The
Residence is situated on the most northerly spit of land in Pròcida on 2
hectares of ground and has its own rocky beach -
which can be reached via a rustic flight of steps -
suitable for practised swimmers. It looks directly out onto the sea and
provides private access to the cliffs, reserved to the guests. The estate
is made of 20 cottages: the majority of them look out onto the sea, but
for those who prefer a more tranquil setting, there are 7 cottages at the
centre of a shady garden. The cottages are self-catering, with shower, hot
water, outfitted kitchen (including plates, pans, glasses, cutlery,
coffeepot…), gas stove, and patio with table, chairs and barbecue. There is an open-air restaurant with
little tables in the shady garden. Delightful for festive evenings for
guests. In the nearby reception room there is a TV and an Internet point
as well as telephone and fax. The Residence can be reached along a narrow
lane, only easily accessible for small/medium cars. Once there you can if desired relax and leave the car standing and use the
ferries, microbus services and microtaxis. Almost all tourists choose to
do that. It is only 20 minutes walk to the harbour. If you call in advance
from Naples you will be picked up at the beginning of your holiday from
the harbour. We ourselves have stayed three times on Pròcida, touched by
the unusual hospitality of the owners of the Residence, for whom a family
atmosphere and a sense of responsibility come first.
The
Residence on Procida is suitable for almost all categories of tourists.
For sports enthusiasts including yachtsmen, surfers, swimmers and
practitioners of subaqua, including courses. For people with
archaeological, artistic and art history interests. For lovers of nature
and scenery. For those who like to take a stroll after a crossing in the
convivial little towns and in the lively city centres of Naples, Sorrento,
Caserta and Ischia. But also for those who seek peace at the end of a spit
of land in the immeasurable distances of sea and light. Suitable for all
ages. Families with small children who want a sandy beach should certainly
bear in mind that the distance to 2 sandy beaches requires a walk of 15 to
20 minutes or public transport if you don't want to walk.
On
request a 3-hour trip is organised around the island in a boat. You can
also take part in the trilingual (Italian, French and English) programmes
for shallow water trips run by the Pròcida Diving Centre which the
Residence has links with. There are 4 places where diving takes place. The
sport is taught and organised according to your experience. Under the
water you get an impression of the colourful nature, the freakish grottos
and the unequalled light effects.
Procida
can be reached in summer and winter from Naples Beverello or Naples
Mergellina in at most a short hour by ferry (for people and cars) or 30
minutes by hydrofoil. And from Pozzuoli in 35 to 40 minutes. The passenger
fare from Pozzuoli in 2003 by ferryboat is €3 per crossing. For a car
€24. There are 18 departures to Pròcida every day and a corresponding
number of return trips.
