The
villa lies at 500 meters from the village of Villa Collemandina
in
a beautiful hilly area of Tuscany (50 Kms northern of Lucca).
It has been restored
with elegant taste.
The location on
an altitude of approximately 550m, grants a not too warm climate in the summertime
(the temperature during the night is almost alsways not higher then 18C°.
The property is an excellent destination for a relaxing holiday and
visit the Garfagnana area with it charming villages, great scenic
drives, walking-hiking (we suggest in the Orecchiella Natural Park) and
other outdoor activities. It’s at the same time a good starting point to
visit Pisa, Lucca and for a day at sea (the Versilia Riviera is 60 kms
away). The main nearby town is Castelnuovo di Garfagnana (at 9 kms) and
has many restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, supermarkets and weekly open
market on Thursday.
The property has a large garden (mostly lawn) and a 12 by 6 meter pool
(depth 1,4 meter). The whole property (house, pool and garden) is for
private use of the tenant. The villa is suitable for max 8+1 persons (4
bedrooms - 2 with double bed and 2 with two single beds). It's possible
to add a folding bed in the bedroom on the ground floor (this has
already 2 single beds). On the ground floor there is a large
dining/living room with well equipped kitchen, the bedroom with 2 single
beds and en-suite bathroom. Next to the living/dining room there is a
terrace with table/chairs and sun umbrella for outdoor dining. From here
you have a panoramic sight and
view on the pool area. There is also a barbecue to cook. On the
first floor there are 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Wi-fi internet
connection available. All common household appliances are available
(washing machine, dishwasher, fridge / freezer, TV, oven ....). Grocery
store (butcher, delicatessen, local products, bread) and pharmacy are
available in the village of Villa Collemandina, at walking distance
(around 350 meters) from the property. There is a supermarket at 1,3
kms. More shops and restaurants are available in Castiglione di
Garfagnana (2,5 kms far away) and Castelnuovo di Garfagnana (9 kms). Here is
also big supermarket (open every day from 8:30 to 20:30 and on Sunday
from 9 to 20) near Gallicano (18kms from the villa). The golf
course of
Golf Club Garfagnana is 9 kms far away.
Tennis lane and horse riding at 3 kms.

THE GARFAGNANA AREA
Someone has called the green island of Tuscany and in fact this valley,
but close to important historical towns such as Lucca, Pisa, Florence
and the flamboyant and fashionable Versilia, was closed in itself,
living its own history and building a strong identity that still
retains. From Garfagnana you can easily reach famous historical centers
as Lucca, Pisa and Firenze, as well as the sparkler Riviera della
Versilia, La Spezia and le Cinque Terre. Closer, almost a unique part
with Valley, Lunigiana, with its castles, Serchio Media Valley, that
with its Devil's Bridge (Ponte del Diavolo) in Borgo a Mozzano let start
the geographical entrance to the Lucca province mountain area, we share
with Alta Versilia a good part of our mountain chain.
The Apuan Alps, which divide to the west by the Tyrrhenian Sea and the
Apennine Mountains to the east, enclosing the valley like a casket.
Garfagnana, literally Great Forest, so this valley seemed to its first
visitors and even today you will be astonished in front of the extension
of its lush forests. Man-planted, cared for and cultivated the chestnut
up to 1000 meters above sea level, wild, intricate, finally the beech
which go up, over 1700 meters and, year after year, trying to regain the
heights of mountains nude. In this immense mass of green appear, almost
suddenly, perched on a hill, perched on the high plains that slope
towards the river, overhanging on vertiginous cliffs, the many small
towns that characterize the Valley. Ruts in the narrow streets, inside
the medieval defensive walls, time passes slowly, the rhythms are those
of the past, the games of boys the same for centuries, the "workshops"
have an antique perfume.
the Valley is a real invitation to enjoy a relaxing holiday, relax on
the edge of a swimming pool or lying on a fragrant meadow of "pepolino"
(wild thyme), silently listening to the sounds of nature that surrounds
us.
Let yourself be enthralled by this goslow, it will be easy to discover
hidden corners of the Valley which offer entirely different aspects to
the change of the seasons: the footpath, landscape, Woods, colours every
time will be for you a new emotion.
