MIDDLE UMBRIA
In Umbria, a region that has gained a name for being the green heart of
Italy, tourism is growing because of the unfamiliar harmony between
nature, antiquities, historic centres and culture. The quiet of the
countryside, good provisions and an inimitable cuisine are the great
draw. This region is less touristy than Tuscany and this is
especially appreciated by many tourists.
Todi is a lovely
town and lies in the middle of Umbria, so it is an eccelent point of
departure to visit the whole region.
The most beautiful towns of Umbria, such as Orvieto, Spoleto, Perugia
and the Trasimeno lake, Assisi are all within 30/50 minutes
driving.
Furthermore, in
the immediate surroundings,
there are many old
and charming villages to visit
as Spello, Norcia, the highlands
of Castelluccio, Trevi, Bevagna and Montefalco. Montefalco is also well
known also for it vineyards and the production of the Rosso di
Montefalco and primarily the Sagrantino wines. We advice to visit one or
more winiries in this area.
Norhtern Lazio
(the Bolsena and Bracciano lakes), Rome and southern Tuscany (Siena,
Montepulciano, Cortona, Arezzo) can also be visited from here in day-trips.
