Todi is centrally situated in Umbria. So it is also suitable for visits in all directions to old towns and villages, beautiful monuments, mountains, the lake of Trasimeno, the mountains in the easterly direction, and the neighbouring region of Marche including one of the most impressive stalactite caves in Italy. To the north in a half-hour drive you are in Perugia or Assisi and after a somewhat longer drive in Gubbio, to the west via the road along the lake of Corbara Orvieto and in a southerly direction Spoleto, among other places. It is also true for Todi that in a single holiday you can only see a part of all the things in the surroundings that are worth a visit. Rome and southern Tuscany (Siena, Montepulciano, Cortona, Arezzo) can also be visited from here in day-trips. The two-storey farmhouse and turret with private swimming pool lies 14 Kms northern of Todi. The imposing stone-built farmhouse that has been restored in accordance with the architectural characteristics typical of umbrian country houses and transformed into a very cosy residence. The villa is characterised by a well-maintained garden with a 6x12 swimming pool for private use of the tenant. You can enjoy an extensive and beautiful view of the valley and the hills. The villa has 5 bedrooms, there is also sofabed in the living room of the tower. Extra bed & cot also available. You can eat outdoor under the equipped porch, from here you can admire the sunset on the surrounding hills. The airport of Perugia is 30 kms form the property (around 35 minutes driving), flights from Brussels & London. On request it is possible to have a chef or do a cooking class. Restaurants within 3 km, there is supermarket in Pantalla (3 km) more shops are available in Collazzone (4 km).
SOUTHERN/CENTRE UMBRIA In Umbria, a region that has gained a name for being the green heart of Italy, tourism is growing because of the unfamiliar harmony between nature, antiquities, historic centres and culture. The quiet of the countryside, good provisions and an inimitable cuisine are the great draw. This region is less touristy than Tuscany and this is especially appreciated by many tourists. Southern/centre Umbria forms an ideal starting point for enjoying the peace of the surrounding hilly and mountainous landscape and on the other hand making trips to beautifull towns like Todi, Orvieto, Narni, Spoleto, Perugia, Gubbio, Assisi. There are also numerous charming little villages – many of medieval origin - as Amelia, Labro, Spello, Norcia, Bevagna, Montefalco to visit. In many towns and villages you can taste local dishes or buy local wines and olive oil (generally of excellent quality). You can also easily visit – in day trips - famous towns and charming villages in the southern part of Tuscany such as Siena, Arezzo, San Giminiano, Pienza, Cortona, Sinalunga, etc. Many tourists visit also Rome from here (without staying in the city which is very hot in summer) once or more times. It is possible to go by car (journey of 1h-1h30) or by train from the stations of: Terni, Narni-Amelia, Orte & Orvieto. We must not forget the mountains with some splendid woods, e.g. Terminillo (up to 2000 metres by car). In around 1 hour it is possible to reach the shimmering lakes of Bracciano, Vico, Piediluco, Bolsena and Trasimeno. The Mediterranean Sea (mostly sand beaches) situated between Tarquinia and Chiarone are 90-120 Kms away (around 1h20-1h40 driving). Near the city of Terni you can also visit the Marmore falls (165 meters, one of the highest of Europe), there is nearby also a rafting/canoeing/hydrospeed center. |
