There are few areas in the world with so many cultural, archaeological and architectural sites of interest as the Italian region of Lazio. In the first place it is situated in the inexhaustible source of sites of  interest in the city of Rome. Everyone know Rome but in the region Lazio there is much more to see. And then Lazio is also flanked on the west by the Mediterranean Sea with its crystal clear colours and numerous islands and in the east by the Apennine mountain ranges, well over 2000 metres. In Lazio nature and culture come together in every way. It is too little known that Lazio is also a region with various splendid lakes. The lakes of Bracciano, Bolsena, Vico and Castelgandolfo, to name the most important. Lakes that allow an abundance of water sports as a change from visiting towns, villages and mountain regions. Without exception easy to reach. And once at the lakes it is also easy to make daytrips by car. Some places to visit in Lazio: Tuscania, Tarquinia, Cerveteri, Bagnaia, Civita di Bagnoreggio, the palace of Caprarola. From northern Lazio it is also easy to visit many charming places in Umbria such  as Orvieto, Todi, Spoleto, ……

In Umbria, a region that has gained a name for being the green heart of Italy, tourism is growing because of the unfamiliar harmony between nature, antiquities, historic centres (the landscape is dotted with many picturesque medieval villages) and culture. In the region immigrants from other countries of the European Union are also settling or buying second homes. The quiet of the countryside, good provisions and an inimitable cuisine are the great draw. Rents for houses are lower in comparison with Tuscany. Main cities to visit: Perugia, Orvieto, Spoleto, Assisi, Todi, Gubbio but there are also many charming little towns and villages.

From southern Umbria, in day trips, it also possible to visit Rome (we advice to go by train) and other  charming little towns of northern Lazio (Tuscania, Tarquinia, Bagnaia, Civita di Bagnoreggio and the lakes of Bolsena, Bracciano and Vico) or southern Tuscany (Siena, Montepulciano, Cortona, ….).

From northern Umbria, in day/half day trips, it also possible to visit Florence, Siena and many other little towns and villages of southern/central Tuscany.

Tuscany is very well known among tourists. Not only for cities like Florence, Pisa and Siena, but also for its rich history and the outstanding wines from this region. Very few places in the world can boast an artistic legacy with contents so deeply rooted in the territory and popular culture as Tuscany. The countless testimonies of art in Tuscany indeed narrate a story as articulated and complex as it is unique and unrepeatable, starting at the dawn of civilisation and continuing, without solution of continuity, up until present day. The first-time visitor to the lands of Tuscany can not but be amazed by the natural symbiosis between landscape and culture, history and the expressive means of architecture and town-planning, the urban and rural dimension, and its patrimony of art, architecture, monuments and museums.

Tuscan beaches

If you are thinking of long beaches stretching for miles and a place to relax in and live it up at the same time, you need to head for the dolce vita of Versilia. This famous coastline, framed by the superb arch of the Apuan Alps, the legendary mountains of white marble is worthy of the cover of travel brochures.And not far from the world famous Leaning Tower, long sweeps of sand open up, but that is not all. There is the sea, sand, pine woods and the Natural Park of San Rossore.  Maybe your imagination will be sparked up by the bays on the Etruscan coast. Maybe it will be the untamed vegetation and the blue waters of the Tuscan islands with the cliffs plunging into the sea. Argentario, where the intense green of the unspoilt Maremma countryside fades into the crystal blue waters of the sea.

In the Apuan Alps you will ascend into marble cathedrals, but you will also discover the kingdom of Lunigiana, full of enchanted caves and castles. The dazzling white of the quarries on one side and the wild, green valley of Garfagnana on the other. If you feel the call of spirituality, awaiting you are the sacred Casentino forests with their monasteries and hermitages along the way where nature is not the only thing to discover. While if you love the sound of the woods, you will be enthralled by the stage that is the Mugello, an aristocratic and timeless land. You can be overcome by the triangular heights of Monte Amiata, so lonely, but at the same time full of roe and fallow deer, by mountains embraced in the world's most famous vineyards or by the wooded Abetone which transforms into pistes for ski lovers in the winter.Waiting for you to explore are miles and miles of pathways for trekking, mountain biking, skiing, but also for absolute rest.
